About Text to Speech Reader
Turn written text into natural spoken audio without uploads, accounts, character limits, or fees. The reader drives your operating system's built-in speech synthesis voices (including the high-quality neural voices that ship with modern Windows, macOS, iOS, Chrome, and Android), so nothing is sent to a text-to-speech API: paste text, pick a voice and language, tune the speaking rate and pitch, and listen. Playback controls include play, pause, resume, stop, and sentence-level progress highlighting, plus quick actions for loading the text of local .txt files. Because it uses your device's local voice engine, it also keeps working with no internet connection.

Is my text uploaded to a speech service?
No. This tool speaks through the Speech Synthesis engine built into your own browser and operating system. Your text stays in the tab. (Note: some operating systems additionally offer optional cloud voices — using those specific voices is your OS-level choice, not something this site controls or requires. Standard local voices work offline.)
Can I download the audio as an MP3 file?
Browsers do not expose the synthesized speech as a recordable audio stream, so a direct audio-file export is not possible with current web technology — this is an honest limitation, not a paywall. For downloadable voiceover files, a dedicated offline TTS engine would be required.
Which voices are available?
Whatever your device has installed — typically dozens across languages on Windows/macOS/Android, including premium neural voices on recent systems. The voice list is read live from your browser.
Is there a character or usage limit?
No practical limit: there is no API being billed per character. Very long texts are split into sentence chunks automatically so playback stays smooth.
