What is the difference between percent change and percentage points?
Percent change is relative: going from 40 to 50 is a 25% increase (10/40). Percentage points are absolute: moving from 40% to 50% is a 10 percentage-point rise (but a 25% relative increase). This tool computes the relative change; keep the distinction in mind for stats and finance.
How is percentage decrease calculated?
With the same formula: ((New โ Old) / |Old|) ร 100. A negative result means a decrease โ e.g. from 80 to 60 is โ25%.
